JIM BEAM DISTILLERY

Bardstown, Kentucky

JRA Architects worked under a design-build delivery method to develop several site improvements for Jim Beam’s Homeplace Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. JRA worked to incorporate new features added to the buildings on-site to facilitate a more visitor-friendly production tour and experience. A new JRAdesigned addition attached to the main fermenting building starts the tour and supports the narrative of making bourbon. Inside the addition, visitor’s are exposed to Jim Beam’s experiential and developmental distilling processes and learn the process of making bourbon from water to distilled spirit. Continuing on the tour leads visitors to new JRA-designed small-batch barrel filling and dumping operations where visitors are invited to be part of the process. The tour then continues to provide visitors with a hands-on single-barrel bourbon packing operation as well as the larger scale bottling operation. When complete the new Jim Beam production Tour will be the highlight of Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail.
