A Space Worthy Of Our Veterans

VA Medical Center Polytrauma Clinic

VA Medical Center Polytrauma Clinic

For almost 70 years, the Louisville VA Medical Center has been delivering medical care to meet its mission of improving the health of veterans through an integrated healthcare system. Part of being a fully integrated system requires maintaining high-quality facilities across the entire Center. When it became apparent that the hospital’s Polytrauma Clinic and main entrance needed significant improvements, JRA Architects was asked to help bring them inline with the rest of the facility.

Our design for the new entrance features abundant natural light and emphasizes wayfinding attributes which simultaneously welcome and orient patients and visitors. The centerpiece of the entrance is a massive American flag - a fitting tribute for those who serve in our military - situated within a luminous glass vessel. In addition to visitor-welcoming and meeting amenities, the addition’s upper level serves as the new outpatient clinic for our veterans featuring ten state-of-the-art exam rooms and a clinic for stress-related disorders.

Today, patients of the Louisville VA Medical Center receive the level of quality care for which the VA is known, within a renovated, updated space that helps nurture healing and tranquility for all who enter.
